Jacksonville, FL —
After two prior trials leave a hung jury, a guilty verdict handed to a Jacksonville man charged with killing a local mother.
27-year-old Andrew King was found guilty of first degree murder, killing an unborn child and burglary with assault or battery for stabbing 23-year-old Felicia Burney in June 2010. Burney was living with King’s ex-girlfriend at the time in an Arlington home, and King believed Burney was messing with his relationship with that woman.
Burney was sleeping when prosecutors say King stabbed her in the neck and chest. She was more than 8 months pregnant at the time, and the unborn child died as well. She also had three other young children.
King was on probation at the time of the stabbing for a past arrest for kicking in the door of an ex-girlfriend’s home. He now faces life in prison and will be sentenced the week of October 21.
