JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. —
A sixty-six year-old woman tells police she was punched in the head and face by a man who was trying to steal her car Monday morning in Jacksonville Beach.
Police say it happened in the 4000 block of 3rd Street South at 8:55 a.m.
The suspect then beat a 51 year-old woman and a 63 year-old woman who were trying to help the first victim, according to police.
The first victim, identified by police as Mrs. Jackson, was taken to Mayo Clinic ER where she is undergoing treatment for her injuries, which were listed as minor but in need of treatment. The other two women were identified as Mrs. Horton, 51, and Mrs. Schmidt, 63. They were both taken to local hopsitals for their injuries as well.
Police have arrested 55-year-old Donnie McClain, who was fleeing the scene when they arrived and got his description from witnesses.
McClain is charged with carjacking, aggravated battery of a person 65 years of age or older, and two other counts of battery.
