Traffic leaving Orange Park was gridlock early this morning after a deadly crash that had all lanes Blanding Blvd. northbound closed at Youngerman Circle.
Florida Highway Patrol says one person was killed in the wreck around 4 a.m. Thursday. They say someone was running eastbound at Youngerman Circle and a car was heading northbound on Blanding. The car apparently had the green light, which the person running did not obey. The elderly woman driving the Honda Accord struck the pedestrian.
Around 7:20 a.m. FHP reported that all lanes of Blanding Blvd. had reopened to traffic.
There has been no word on the identity of the victim. FHP says they are speaking with the driver of the vehicle and criminal charges are pending investigation.
