St. Augustine Police have two men in custody after responding to a robbery call today…
Police were heading to the Sunoco Station at 2199 North Ponce de Leon Blvd this afternoon for the call when one office saw a car matching a description of the scene near Ponce Blvd. and Sanchez. Two people in the car were taken by police. At the same time a white male was seen running southbound away from the Sunoco. Two officer followed on foot, eventually getting that suspect as well.
According to eyewitnesses, all three were seen at the Sunoco.
Police say the owner of the store asked the man who had fled on foot, Eric Rene Tirado, to step outside and talk with him. They got in to an argument and Tirado took an undetermined amount of cash from the owner’s pocket.
A separate witness came to help as Tirado then tried to dive in to a car window while the driver, Richard William Palmer, started hitting the owner.
Tirado has been charged with Robbery and Richard Palmer has been charged with Battery. A passenger in the car, Lauren Elizabeth Parker, was released without charges.
