Jacksonville, FL —
The days and weeks of preparation have finally paid off for UNF as they hosted the GOP Presidential debate Thursday night.
“It was incredible. It was a heck of a debate number one,” UNF President John Delaney tells WOKV.
Delaney tells WOKV that as far as he knows, the debate went off without a hitch. But he did hear of a few issues going on around campus.
“We had a couple of complaints because a lot of faculty went ahead and cancelled classes because a lot of students wanted to see what was going on,” says Delaney.
He continued on to say that all in all, hosting the debate at UNF was not only good for Jacksonville, but good for the university as well.
“It was good theater; it was good kicking around of public policy. If we could erase the negative stuff out of politics it would have been more fun,” says Delaney.
He says if he has the chance, he would be more than happy to host another big event there again.
