Working with Jags a high priority for Global/SMG decision

Jacksonville, FL —

Across 10 criteria, Global Spectrum gains the edge over current facilities manager SMG- and that’s setting up lots of discussion between the Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville.

A subcommittee had recommended the city use Global Spectrum to manage entertainment venues like EverBank Field and the Times-Union Center.  On Wednesday, Jacksonville’s Procurement Committee agreed.

“Global just happened to score higher overall in those particular areas,” says Procurement Chief Greg Pease.

Some of the most critical areas they consider are competency, past performance, cost and others.

The final decision on who the city chooses will fall on Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown.  Spokesman David DeCamp told me there is no timeline for the decision at this point, because their focus instead is communicating with the Jaguars.

“It’s extremely important that they initiate that conversation,” says Pease.

The Jaguars had favored the current manager SMG to run EverBank Field, and when asked on Thursday if that is still their preference, a spokesman told me they had not changed their position.  The Jags do have a say in the final decision.
