Jacksonville, FL —

A pregnant woman who was shot Wednesday has lost her unborn baby.

35-year-old Virginia Wyche is now charged with shooting 23-year-old Makeisha Brooks following an argument that was allegedly spurred on by a social media post.

Wyche is charged with attempted murder and being held on a million dollars bond.

The victim's unborn child died, however, the victim is expected to survive.

“They know each other, what that relationship is at this point we really don’t know,” Sgt. Michael Paul says.

The victim came to Virginia Wyche's home on Castle Boulevard to try to settle the dispute but instead things again escalated, and Wyche allegedly shot the victim in her front yard.  JSO says at least one shot was fired at the victim’s abdomen and it’s considered life threatening.

One witness tells WOKV he has interacted with the suspect before.

“She can really let you have it but not in that capacity,” the witness says.

Another man who lives in the area didn’t see the shooting, but is concerned about that kind of violence in his neighborhood.

“Always a surprise to hear that, especially when it’s around here, people that grew up together,” he says.
