Bortles continues to adjust:

The Jacksonville Jaguars wrapped up their second day of organized team activates Wednesday at the Florida Blue Practice Fields outside of EverBank Field with another up-tempo practice in the hot Florida sun.

First-round pick, quarterback Blake Bortles, continued to adjust to the professional game, making some nice throws while also looking a little overwhelmed at times, something to be expected from a rookie in just his fourth NFL practice (second with veterans present).

However, Bortles did show improvement from Tuesday’s practice, specifically in his ability to forget about a bad throw or bad read and move on to the next play.

“If he makes a mistake, then sometimes he’ll make another mistake, and I said that’s what you’ve got to learn to deal with,” Head coach Gus Bradley said. “You’re going to make mistakes but then come back, correct it and move on. And I think that’s what he figured out. That’s what happened yesterday; today I saw he did a better job of that.”

Bradley also said he told Bortles that there isn’t a lot of pressure on him right now because he’s not going into the season as the starter, but instead as Chad Henne’s backup. They expect Bortles to go through the growing pains of being a rookie quarterback and learning the offense and the professional game.

Two-minute drive:

Jags to practice at local high school: Before practice Wednesday, team president Mark Lamping, general manager David Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley announced that the Jaguars will be holding a practice open to the public at Bartram Trail High School, Monday, July 28th, as part of the Jaguars partnership with St. John's County. They also announced that due to the fan support at the rookie minicamps earlier this month (over 8,000 in attendance throughout the two days), they have decided to open three additional practices to the public, the first coming on the June 5th OTA practice, followed by two minicamp practices on June 16th and 17th.

Clemons still a no show: Defensive end Chris Clemons was not in attendance for the second day in a row due to what head coach Gus Bradley called a "personal issue." Bradley said he talked to Clemons on Tuesday and understands why he isn't with the team but still called the situation unfortunate. Bradley said the Clemons situation is day-to-day as far when they expected him to join the team.

Play of the day: Quarterback Chad Henne connected with receiver Cecil Shorts III on a long touchdown towards the end of practice. Shorts III was well covered by cornerback Dwayne Gratz however Henne put the ball right where it needed to be. Just before that play, Henne put another ball in the same spot, hitting rookie receiver Marqise Lee in the hands for what would have been another long touchdown, however, Lee wasn't able to hold on.

Star of the day: Safety Winston Guy continued his push to be the team's starting free safety on opening day. Guy made a number of big plays Wednesday including a pick six of Chad Henne and batting away a number of balls while in coverage.

Quote of the day: "I think with Toby [Gerhart], you're going to see him with the pads on. He just appears to me like he's that kind of back like 14 carries, 15 carries, then you're going to see his strength with the pads on." – Head coach Gus Bradley on how running back Toby Gerhart has done so far.

What's next: The Jaguars practice next Thursday at 11:25 a.m. at the Florida Blue Practice Fields. Practice is open to the public. Rookies Blake Bortles, Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson will not be attendance as they are flying to California to attend the NFL's Rookie Premier.
