Tourists Brave Floods in Venice

Water in Venice rose to 103 centimetres above sea level on Wednesday - flooding St. Mark's Square and nearby tourist areas. The levels aren't as high as recent floods - but still forced people here to make use of raised walkways - or brave the waters with rubber boots. Many bars and cafes in the area are still operating - their chairs half submerged. A fresh peak of 130 centimetres was expected late on Wednesday, as strong southeasterly winds continue to blow across The Floating City.
