The Rev. Wright Show

By Jamie Dupree

This won't be the weekend that everyone just forgets about Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his ties to Barack Obama.

Wright gives his first real interview since videotapes of his controversial sermons started making the rounds on the internet and evening news shows.  He'll be on Friday night with Bill Moyers on PBS.

That's unlikely to be a super-controversial interview, but still it will push the story along.

You can see a little more about it on the Moyers site at http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04252008/profile.html

Once the media chews on that, then it will be time for Barack Obama to make his debut on Fox News Sunday.

Chris Wallace has been trying to get Obama to come on the show since 2006, and finally started an on screen clock to show how long Obama had been avoiding the Sunday talk show.

Clearly, the Rev. Wright issue will be one thing that comes up on Sunday.  And that won't be the end of it.

Then on Monday, Rev. Wright will be live and in person at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., giving a speech and answering some questions from the media.

Add to that the simmering battle over an advertisement that starts on Monday from the North Carolina GOP, which uses the Wright matter to raise questions about two Democratis running for Governor in that state, and we have the makings of even more for the media to chew on.

Part of me wonders whether this three days of Wright-Obama-Wright will start to put all this behind Obama, or if it will only pour more gasoline on the embers of this battle.

Stay tuned.
