"I think you can stick a fork in her; she's pretty well done."

Obviously, not everyone shares that appraisal of what's next in Texas and Ohio.

"We expect to do well in both states," said Clinton campaign guru Harold Ickes on a conference call with reporters Wednesday.

"We expect to be in a very good position coming out of those states," added Clinton's campaign strategist Mark Penn.

If Hillary the Candidate is going to start changing the direction of this race, then tonight's debate would seem to be the place to start. 

Debates are always a risk for the underdog and frontrunner.  If you go on the attack too much, you are likely to come off the wrong way in the view of voters.  If you don't engage the person who is attacking you, or try to brush much of it off, you can be judged as too aloof.

As I've said before, I just wonder whether Democrats don't want to see Hillary go into the attack mode.  Many Obama supporters see him as something Truly Different, and if Hillary is going to try to muddy him up, they want no part of that kind of "Politics As Usual."

So watch the debate and tonight and try to figure out where Hillary is going - and most importantly, whether any of her late campaign jabs are landing or not.
