In The Hands Of The Courts

Previous Posts

So this can potentially be the biggest day in for the NFL lockout. Arguments begin today on the antitrust lawsuit between the players and owners and for the lockout injunction. U.S. District Judge Susan Nelson has the tough job of trying to figure out what’s legal and what’s not. Here are some of the possible out comes

Lockout could be called illegal forcing it to end

Lockout will be called legal and will continue to a deal is worked out

The two sides could be forced to get back together and negotiate

Now the important thing to remember is even if the courts rule to end the lockout that doesn’t mean we will see free agency tomorrow. Most likely the owners would appeal that ruling meaning the lockout would continue until all the appeals are heard. I think the most important thing to consider is that this court case will set the bar on how long this lockout could take. Maybe a day (not likely) or possibly a month, but for the owners, players, and fans we can all agree the shorter the better.
