Gotta love the upset specials and Sunday was a good day for in the NBA and NHL. I think it’s an unwritten law when your team isn’t playing you always route for the underdog. It’s just more fun to see the team that nobody thought could win play tough. With that being said if the opening weekend is any indication, it’s going to be real fun to watch the Wild West in the NBA.
Saturday you had Dallas, a team that most people didn’t think could win this series, taking down Portland by 8. But Sunday was definitely the fun day with two big upsets. First the number 1 seed Spurs went down to the 8 seed Grizzlies 101-98, then the 2 seed Lakers had an even tougher time with the 7 seed Grizzlies, they went down 109 to 100. To cap of the whole weekend the Thunder and Nuggets played back and forth with the thunder winning by four.
In the NHL upsets are brewing as well. The 2/7 match up in both conferences are tied at a game apiece. 5 seed Nashville is holding a 2-1 series lead over the 4 seed Ducks and the 4/5 match in the East is tied up at a game a piece between Tampa and Pittsburg. Not to mention maybe the biggest upset of all the 6 seed Montreal Canadians are up on the Boston Bruins 2 games to nothing.
Let’s hope the rest of the playoffs are as exciting as the first week.
