Jags Falcons Preview

Previous Posts

By Jay Gray

Game two of the preseason kicks off tonight at 8 with the Jags and Falcons live from Everbank Field. Starters usually see a full half of action in the second game depending on how well they play. After a bad loss in week one the Jags have a lot to improve on here are just a few things to watch for.

Garrard vs. Gabbert.

Gabbert looked pretty sharp in his week one performance but now Garrard gets the keys to the offense. What makes this even more interesting is that this week in practice both Garrard and Gabbert have been splitting time with the first team. The question is, is Garrard splitting time because he is still sore or does Gabbert have a real shot to be the starter week 1. This week’s game might go a long way to fueling that QB debate.

Jags Receivers

Whether you look at local or national coverage of the Jags almost everyone agrees the biggest need on this team is in the receiving core. Week one didn’t help the group’s reputation, multiple drops and red zone trips that didn’t result in a touchdowns. Jack Del Rio keeps saying that these receivers are better than people think, they have another chance to try and prove it tonight.

The fan support

We all know they lockout gave fans in Jacksonville a built in excuse on why they weren’t buying tickets. I heard many people say “I’m not sure if there will be a season so I’m not buying tickets” and we all know this team struggles to sell seats. So what will the crowd look like for the first game at Everbank Field? If this one is really empty then I think we will have a season dominated by blackout talks.

No matter what happens you can catch every second of the action on am 690 or 106.5 fm. Our coverage kicks off tonight at 5 with the tailgate show kickoff is at 8.
