Jags Chargers Preview

Previous Posts

I think the big question this week is what will the Jags look like? The change to Mel Tucker has a bunch of ramifications on the team. We know under Jack Del Rio this season the offense was laughable, how much will the philosophy of the offense change now that Tucker has final say? The bigger issue may come on defense. When Tucker was calling the plays this defense looked as good as any in the league. How will Mel Tuckers double duty effect the best part of this team?

The good news is that Jacksonville is taking on a San Diego team that hasn’t won in over 6 weeks. The charges started hot going 4-1 but are in the middle of one of the worst slides in team history. Don’t let the record fool you this Chargers team can blow up at any moment. They have to great running backs, an explosive receiving core, one of the best tight ends in NFL history, and a top QB (even though he hasn’t played well this year). This is basically the same team that beat don the Jags 38-13 last year.

While the Chargers have the same team the Jags are totally different, in that game last year Garrard threw a career high 4 picks. Now he’s gone, Jack is gone, and Wayne weaver has one foot out the door. I’m sure all the fans are hoping that the Jags losing ways are gone too. It’s the first game of the Mel Tucker era and his try out to become a full time head coach. If not with Jacksonville then maybe with any other team looking for a new head man.
