Sharks Break AFL Record

Previous Posts

By Jay Gray

It’s really becoming expected every week that the Jacksonville Sharks will get the win. This weekend in front of over 10,000 fans the Sharks beat down in-state rival Tampa bay 66 to 41, but this win was more than just a victory. The win was the Sharks 13th straight that puts them alone in the record books for most consecutive wins in AFL history. If that was all this weekend was good for then it wouldn’t be too bad but the home team gave the fans much more. They gave them another home game this season; the Sharks clinched their second straight division title, guaranteeing a first round home playoff game.

Aaron Garcia has been on fire this year, Saturday was no different he set another AFL record most completions in a career 3866. Add to that 288 yards passing and 9 touchdown passes, the Sharks will go as far as the arm of Garcia takes them. Ridiculous Jeff Hughley lived up to the nickname; he caught most of Garcia’s passes going for 210 and 6 TDs. The defense not too shabby either, getting an interception and a safety.

Sharks have yet to lose a game in front of the home fans so that Home field advantage should come up huge in the playoffs. They clinched home field throughout the conference finals, now all that’s left is to clinch the arena bowl in Jacksonville. All the Sharks need to do is win out and they will finish with the best record, the road to the playoffs begins Friday night in San Jose.
