Welcome Back Number 11

I have a huge college of sports jerseys and the reason I don’t get rid of them is because you never know when a former player may come back. So dust off your old number 11 jerseys cause Mike Sims Walker is a Jaguar again. There is no secret I felt like the Jags needed another playmaker at the wide receiver and if you read my blog yesterday you know I thought the Jags should have made a play for Brandon Lloyd. I still think the Jags would have been better off with Lloyd over Sims Walker but at least the Jags did make a move. They were able to bring him in without giving anything up in return but is Sims Walker the answer?

I always wonder about a player that had a bad season and was cut from a team that isn’t winning games. Walker only has 11 catches for 139 yards and zero TDs on a team that hasn’t won a game yet. The last two seasons he played with the Jags he had 7 touchdowns each season. So you have to wonder is Sims Walker a good NFL receiver or just seemed good because the Jags other receivers were so bad. Either way he is definitely an upgrade from what the Jags have now but I don’t think he will have the same impact as if Brandon Lloyd would have been brought over.

I did have to laugh when Jack Del Rio talked on WOKV last night and hinted that Sims Walker would have to earn his spot. I know he’s trying to say that Sims Walker won’t just come in and be the top guy game one but even if he is a poor season he has more receiving yards than all but two guys on the Jags current roster. With the Jags having an extra day to prepare for the Raven there is a good chance Mike plays this week and I bet he quickly becomes Gabbert’s favorite target.
