Jags Start A New Losing Streak

Previous Posts

By Jay Gray

I feel like I say this almost every week, Jags follow the same pattern in a loss. You can really take any of my post game right ups from the Jags 5 game losing streak and just change the name of the team they played. The defense played well and kept it close, the offense couldn’t score, and in the end the Jags lose. The only difference in this one was Blaine Gabbert’s turnovers.

Until Sunday Gabbert hasn’t looked great but he was going a great job of eliminating the turnovers and this week it really cost the Jags. If you look at the game the first INT Blaine threw the Jags had a good drive going, they were assured at least a field goal. The second pick gave the Texans great field position which resulted in a touchdown. There’s your 10 points that the Jags lost by. Usually you see Maurice Jones Drew have a big day on the ground but no scores. This week just the opposite on 63 yards rushing but he did get into the end zone. Same for the defense, after a great game Monday night keeping Ray Rice in check the Jags laid an egg against Arian Foster. He ran for 112 yards and 1 score. And since I wrote a little while back that the Jags should have traded for Brandon Lloyd instead of signing Mike Sims Walker I have to point out that Lloyd had 6 catches for 53 yards and a TD while Sims walker was held without a single catch.

The loss moves the Jags to 2-6 on the year with a much needed bye this week. Unfortunately with the new rules in the CBA the Jags coaches will be forced to give the players some time off stead of using the extra week to work on their game. The Jags could really use the added practice to help turn around the second half of the season. As of right now the home team sits 3 games out in the AFC South but it’s really 4 since the Jags are losing the head to head tie breaker with the Texans. Unless both the Texans and Titans really struggle down the stretch the Jags are out of the playoff chase.
