Tebow Week

Previous Posts

By Jay Gray

Well I guess we can call this Tebow week here in Jacksonville. Even if he is inactive like he was last week (he was healthy enough to play) everyone around Jacksonville will be saying Tebow is coming back. You can say what you want about Tebow but if he isn’t playing QB for the Jets this year there has to be a good reason.

Even before the rib Injury the Jets have had one of the most inconsistent offenses in the League. They rank 28th in total passing yards, 28th in yards per games, 27th in passing TDs, 7th in INTs, and 30th in completion percentage. It doesn’t get much worse than that and Mark Sanchez has taken 99 percent of all the snaps. If any team should make a change at quarterback it’s the Jets yet we haven’t seen Tebow. I highly doubt it’s a big conspiracy to keep Tebow out of the line up so the only reason I see that he hasn’t played on one of the worst passing offenses in the league is that Jets coach Rex Ryan doesn’t think he gives them the best chance to win. Now I know Rex Ryan won’t go down as one of the best coaches of all time but he has seen Tebow practice more than anyone else this year so he has a pretty good idea of what he can do and Rex has a pretty big decision to make this week. Sanchez had one of the worst QB performances in history last week, Tim Tebow didn’t play, and 3rd stringer Greg McElroy had 1 good drive to give the Jets a win but he’s only thrown seven total passes in the NFL. So who starts?

Rex Ryan is keeping this decision close to the vest but in my opinion it won’t be Tebow. I’m not sure why Jags fans still want to see Tebow here if the Broncos who were in the Playoffs didn’t think Tebow could get them to the next level and the Jets with one of the worst offenses in the league won’t play Tebow, chances are he won’t be able to come here and make a difference. Whether he starts, plays a few snaps, or is inactive this week chances are this game will get some national exposure because of the Jets circus going on. It’s never a bad thing to put a national spotlight on the Jaguars as long as they perform this Sunday.
