The Season Is Over, Now What?

Previous Posts

By Jay Gray

Well football season is over so now what?  We will see a little break in the action until March that when roster bonuses are due so you will see a few guys cut. The biggest name that might get let go is Peyton Manning. Free agency also kickoffs in March and we will see one of the best wide receiver classes in history come out this year. Let’s not forget the draft in April. Two names sit atop the draft board and they are both QB’s Andrew Luck of Stanford and Heisman winner RG III out of Baylor. Can’t wait until April well you will see all these college prospects in action at the NFL Combine in Late February.  Then it’s a few mini camps before the guys take the field for real in training camp. Here is a list of the NFL’s offseason schedule.

Feb 20th- teams can start using the franchise tag. This may thin out the heard of the best free agents

Feb 22nd- Feb 28th – NFL Combine from Indy. Most of the top college athletes that will enter the Draft will show their skills

March 13th 4pm- Start of free agency.

Mid April- The first Mini Camps begin. New coaches (including Mike Mularkey) start to teach their offense and defense to the team

April 25th- April 26th- NFL Draft

Late July- Training camp begins

Early August- Preseason begins

September 6th- NFL Week 1

You have something every month to look forward to that should satisfy the NFL withdrawal. The Jags once again should be one of the more active teams during the offseason. Last year it was a focus on defense and this year it should be all on the offensive side.
