Well I called it yesterday and the teams delivered. Six of the top eleven teams faced each other in one of the most exciting nights in college basketball history (outside of March). Game one was number 10 Kansas against number 6 Baylor. It wasn’t the closest game of the night but it’s always fun when a lower ranked team goes on the road for the upset. The Jayhawks won it 68-54. Going on at the same time was another great battle between number 2 Syracuse and number 11 Georgetown. This one was close throughout and took an extra session with the Cuse getting the win 64-61. The nightcap was the best game of all Duke rallying late in the fourth and hitting a three at the buzzer to upset UNC in Chapel Hill.

If this is a sign of things to come then this could be one of the best March’s ever. Think about it when the over half of the top 11 teams do battle. One game went to the buzzer, one game went to overtime, and two of the games were upsets. This season could be one of the closest in recent history when deciding who the best teams are. It’s great for college basketball fans but horrible for anyone filling out a bracket in March. Anyone on of these 6 teams that played yesterday can make a deep run or lose in the 3^rd round. I guess it’s like that every year but this is why we love March Madness so much.

At a time when most fans go into a sports depression with the end of football season there is great college basketball action going on. With just a few weeks left until the conference tournaments the excitement is only going to get bigger.
