The Dolphins' Fans Get Creative

Previous Posts

Remember when you were in school and you had to write an essay that you had no clue about? Instead of leaving it blank you BS your way through it and the teacher usually gave you a few points for the effort. That’s how I see the latest ad campaign by fans of the Miami Dolphins and their effort to court Peyton Manning. They have launched the website manningtomiami.com hoping to lure the potential free agent to South Beach.

If you go to the website you will see a photo shopped picture of Peyton Manning in a Dolphin’s jersey with the headline “Make History Bring Manning to Miami.” There you can sign a petition that will be handed over to the Dolphins and representatives of Manning. You can also buy the bring Manning to Miami t-shirt and check out a blog that is all Manning all the time. It’s creative and fun but just like that essay when you were in school, Manning will appreciate the effort but I don’t think it will make a big impact. It is nice to see a fan base really try to land a big name player instead of relying on the ownership of the team. It made me wonder if the Jags fans should take a page from their friends in South Florida.

We all know the Jags biggest need this offseason is to upgrade the receiving core and this year has one of the deepest classes of wide outs in history. Maybe the fans can find a creative way to lure guy like Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, or Desean Jackson to come to Jacksonville. Will it make a difference? Maybe, but probably not but it definitely can’t hurt. I would love to see fan website popping up like put JacksoninJacksksonville.com or ourreceiverswontblowwithBowe.com. get creative Jacksonville you can do it.
