Jags Can't Relax This Week

Bye weeks mean a lot of different things to players. Some will use it to relax and get ready for the final push, some will use it to get healthy, some forget about football for a while, and some will use it to get better. While there are some players that need to use the time off to get healthy most of the Jags should use this week to get better. With the new rules in the NFL you can’t practice all day and all night but there are some things the Jags can do to improve this week.

For Blaine Gabbert he really needs to use this time to improve. Even if it isn’t possible to get together with his receivers he needs to watch film. There is no rue about watching as much film as possible. Even if it’s taking videos home to watch in his spare time it needs to be done. He needs to watch film on upcoming opponents, on himself, and different defenses in general. One thing all the top QBs in the league will tell you is the more film you watch the better you play. It’s not just the players that need to utilize the bye week the coaches need to totally reevaluate their team. I’m sorry but I don’t care how good someone looked in practice if it doesn’t transition on Sundays it doesn’t matter. A change at positions can really make a difference for a struggling team. If its benching a vet or giving a rookie a shot shaking things up can help turn this thing around. And let’s be honest it can’t get much worse than the way the guys are playing now.

When teams win coaches can reward them with time off during the bye week. That shouldn’t be the case for the Jags they need to use this week to give them a leg up against Oakland. Mike Mularkey was able to turn things around in his first season in Buffalo hopefully he can do it here to.
