Jags Fall Again

Previous Posts

By Jay Gray

Depending on how you look at the Jags game this week it was either a really good game or a really bad game. On one hand you can say the Jags weren’t supposed to even keep it close and because they did it was a moral victory. On the other hand you could be really upset that the Jags came so close and blew another winnable game in the fourth quarter. No matter what you think about the game it was still a loss and the Jags move to 1-6 on the year.

The defense put a great effort for most of the game. Any time you hold Aaron Rodgers to 200 yards passing is a good day. They only gave up 66 yards on the ground and managed a couple sacks plus a forced fumble. The defense isn’t the reason the Jags lost this week. The offense couldn’t score touchdowns especially in the second half was the down fall. Blaine Gabbert had a good day throwing for over 300 yards and a score but in the second half is where he struggled. The Jags were within two points late in the game and Gabbert failed to put together a meaningful drive. The team as a hole could only manage 108 yards the entire second half.

After the game in Oakland we all assumed that the Jags offense struggled in the second half because of all the injuries but this week there were no big injuries and the Jags still struggled in the second half. Coach Mularkey will have to answer the question as to why this team can’t seem to finish games. They did win one but they have blown a couple fourth quarter leads this season and they could have stolen this one if they played better in the final minutes. If the Jags want to turn this losing around they have to figure out why they can’t finish games.
