It all begins tonight, the start of the NFL season.  Normally we have to wait until Thursday to get a taste of games that count but this year because of the DNC we get to enjoy the game a day early. Tonight it will be the Super Bowl Champion Giants taking on the Dallas cowboys. Weather forecast is calling for some bad storms so this may not be the great start to a season the NFL was hoping for. Just because tonight might be low scoring and sloppy doesn’t mean the rest of the first NFL weekend won’t be great.

Three games standout above the rest, two of them are on Sunday. Sunday at 4:25 you might see the best match up of the weekend, San Francisco taking on Green Bay. This maybe a preview of this year’s NFC championship game with the high powered offense of the Pack going up against the stingy D of the 49ers. Sunday night you get a rematch of last year’s opening round playoff game between Denver and Pittsburg. Back then Tim Tebow lead the upset win in overtime this year it will be the return of Peyton Manning. Monday Night has a great matchup of division rivals and two playoff teams from last year, Baltimore and Cincy. When I first saw the schedule I had to laugh at the Jags matchup. The NFL loves story lines and what is a better storyline from two teams that combined for 8 wins last year? The Jags and Vikings are the two teams that are rumored more than any other teams to make a move to LA. Guarantee he hear that brought up at least once by the national broadcast team.

No matter what you think of the football the NFL has one of the most anticipated opening weekends of any pro sport. Maybe it’s because there are so few games in and NFL season, maybe it’s because it signals the end of the hot summer days and the start of the cooler weather? Either way this will be a great weekend full of surprise, disappointments, and hope. For a few hours you get to forget your problems and watch a bunch of guys beat up their bodies for our own entertainment.
