Rough Schedule

I talked about it on Over the Line during our Jags preview that it’s too bad the Jags have to play the Texans so early in the season. If you look at Houston over the past few seasons they usually falter toward the end of the year and the injuries seem to pile up. Last year was the first year the Texans didn’t fall apart during the end of the season but they always seem to be fast starters.

This year is no different with their dominating 30-10 win over Miami. Arian Foster was supposed to be banged up for that opener, he ran for 79 yards and 2 TDs, so much for that. Andre Johnson usually is good for missing a few games during the year but in the opener he looked healthy as ever catching 119 yards worth of passes and a touchdown. Matt Schaub looked just as good as ever with a QB rating of over 100. Why do I bring up all this Texans talk? Because they seem to be in mid-season form already this isn’t a good sign if the Jags want to win their home opener.

The Texans have beaten the Jags three straight games but the three before the Jags owned Houston. After a tough loss the last thing you want is to play a division rival who looks like the Super Bowl favorite that they are. The Jags will need to get Minnesota and to be honest all of last season out of their heads if they don’t want to fall 0-2. There is still hope around the first coast but if the Jags don’t start winning the hope will fade pretty quick from the fickle Jacksonville fans.
