For all the newness around town the Jags looked like the Jags of last season against the Texans. New coach, new owner, new receivers but the Jags still had trouble scoring touchdowns. They had 1 against the Texans which lead to the 27-7 loss. The Jags look better on paper unfortunately they have failed to prove it on the field when it counts.
This week the old Jags seemed to come out and play. Blaine Gabbert only completed 7 passes for 53 yards, Maurice Jones Drew ran for 60 yards, and the Jags D gave up 216 yards on the ground. It was an all-around bad game for Jags but one you might have seen coming. I said it all last week the Texans were coming into the game healthy and looking like a Super Bowl contender and the Jags came off a game they lost but should have won. That’s not a recipe for success and it showed on the field. You can blame the early struggles on injuries, or that the Jags are a young team, or it’s a new offense but the fact is the Jags are not starting off the season like everybody hoped.
It’s a long season and if the Jags win more games than they did last year it will technically they will technically be a better team. So far this season the Jags haven’t looked like the improved team we thought they would be. The offensive problems are still there and the defense doesn’t look as dominate as last year. We are only two games in so don’t lose all hope but the longer the Jags go without a win the harder it will be to see the silver lining.
