Our Top Local Story:  College parents are having a family conversation about hazing; All university Presidents are being pushed to review their hazing policies. This follows the death of a FAMU drum major and allegations of hazing by other FAMU students.  Former band director and Jacksonville native Julian White defended himself last night with supporters. 

A hazing incident grinds the wrestling program at Fernandina Beach High School to a halt.  First Coast News reports members of that team paddled a freshman wrestler over 14 times on the buttocks after practice earlier this week.  The bruises were so severe that they were still visible days later. The school and police are investigating.

We've always called it 9A but that's about to change. Florida DOT spokesman Mike Goldman says they fully anticipated turning 9A into I-295 once the work on 9A was done and that sign project begins this weekend.  Changing the signs will cost a little more than a million dollars.

More than two million of your tax dollars is coming back from Washington to pay for repairs to the Skyway and bus hubs in downtown Jacksonville.  Congressman Corrine Brown says the federal grant to JTA will also pay for a full structure inspection every two years.

A Jacksonville teen had a run in with TSA on her way back from Norfolk, Virginia, because of her purse had a design of a gun on it.  17-year-old Vanessa Gibbs says she has never before been stopped.  But a TSA agent told her carrying the bag onto the plane would have been a federal offense. 

Our Top National Story:  The Senate approves a major defense bill that gives the military more power over terrorism suspects arrested here.  The bill would require military custody of a suspect deemed to be a member of al-Qaida.  It's 27 billion dollars less than what the President wanted, and 43 billion less than what Congress gave the Pentagon this year.

Gridlock in the Senate over extending the payroll tax cut so the issue is punted to the House.  Speaker John Boehner says extending it would help boost jobs, but he says any further extension should be paid for with budget cuts.

Reining in the government regulations...House Republicans are voting today on the second of three anti-regulation bills.  They're questioning new rules for clean air, workplace safety, children's toys and many other categories.  Democrats say your health and safety would be jeopardized.

We're expecting to hear around 8:30 this morning how America's economy performed in November.  Most economists are predicting modest job gains but no change in the 9% unemployment rate. 

You Decide 2012:  The Cain train may come off the tracks this weekend.  Herman Cain sits face to face with his wife today to clarify his relationship with a woman who claims it was an affair.

Newt Gingrich is rivaling and even beating Mitt Romney in some polls.  Gingrich says he's not perfect but still the most electable of the GOP candidates for president.

One local Mitt Romney supporter hints that Gingrich could be knocked down a few pegs if someone challenged him.  State Senator John Thrasher says Gingrich lacks organization, but the debates have allowed him to face the important issues head on, garnering support.

It's not a debate, but six of the eight Republican White House contenders will go one-on-one with Mike Huckabee on his Fox News show Saturday. 

This month, the U.S. will hand over Camp Victory in Iraq to the Iraqi government before U.S. troops pull out of the country. Camp Victory was Saddam Hussein's sprawling former palace, where after his fall, U.S. generals plotted the war's course.
