Another chance of heavy rain at times this afternoon south of Duval County, but not as widespread as yesterday's storms that brought much needed rain across the region. Yesterday's rains were heaviest southwest of downtown Jacksonville. JIA picked up just a trace, NAS Jax reports just over half an inch, Fleming Island just under an inch. A few radar estimates in St. Johns and Clay County show between two and three inches.
We turn dry Friday and through the holiday weekend, with minimal chances of rain. We're still considered in long-term drought, but since January 1st we're only an inch below normal rainfall.

Few answers for anxious people in the Ortega Bluff neighborhood on the westside a day after two bodies are found inside of a home. Both men were shot dead but it's unclear when the shooting happened. Cops have not publicly identified the victims or whether there are any suspects.
Six months into his term, Governor Scott's disapproval ratings continue to rise. And a new poll finds Scott would lose to Alex Sink in a do-over election. The poll finds Sink with a 22 point advantage over Scott. Keeping in mind this is hypothetical--if Charlie Crist were running as a Democrat he would beat Scott handily.
Jurors in the Casey Anthony murder trial see and hear a grieving grandfather, as George Anthony breaks down on the stand. The defense expects to rest its case today.
A Jacksonville man faces up to three decades in prison after being found guilty of aggravated child abuse. It took jurors only 30 minutes to convict 30-year-old Gregory Council for shaking a two-year-old child, causing broken ribs and a bleeding brain. The child has since made a full recovery.
A 22 year vet of Jacksonville Sheriff's Office faces prison time after he plead guilty to stealing between 50 and 60 thousand dollars from the Brotherhood of Police Officers. Reginald Lott is charged with grand theft and could face 15 years in prison. Lott retired before he could be fired, so he's still eligible to get his 55 thousand dollar a year pension.
It's life in prison for a man who murdered a Navy chief petty officer inside his home. Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty for 31-year-old DeAngelo Thomas, but the judge chose the life sentence. Thomas killed 40 year-old David Gilbert.
No suspects named yet in the white powder scare at Senators Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson's Jacksonville offices. Investigators with the FBI say both cases are probably linked.
There will be no statewide ban on fireworks this Fourth of July weekend. Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam says there has been enough rain to make a case for the explosives, although county bans will likely stay in place.
Our Top National Story: President Obama is delivering a blunt challenge to Republicans in Congress. He's insisting that any deficit reduction plan has to include the elimination of selected tax breaks for oil companies and the super wealthy. Hear Jamie Dupree explain why the President's tone is turning sharply more critical. Obama and even some Republicans are pushing to stay in D.C. over the holiday weekend to work on the deficit talks, but Jamie says he'll believe it when he sees it.
Neal Boortz was fired up about the President's news conference, saying it's clear that class warfare will be the big theme in the 2012 election. Hear Neal here.

Republicans are renewing their call in Congress for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. But they're not even close to having the two-thirds super majority needed to send it on to the states.
A big win for backers of Obamacare. A three judge panel in Cincinnati upheld both the reform law and individual mandate. Two of the three judges involved were put on the bench by Republicans. More legal battles are coming, and this could ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court.
The Senate plans to vote today on the nomination of Gen. David Petraeus to become CIA director.
Could the host of Dateline NBC's "To Catch a Predator" be caught in his own web of deceit?
