Our Top Local Story:  Mayor-elect Alvin Brown ran on a platform of turning around Jacksonville's economy.  Now he'll be put to the test.  The head of WorkSource in Jacksonville says we may be in for a perfect storm of economic recovery and fresh leadership.  And long-term Republican heavyweight Mike Hightower says Brown brings a burst of energy to the table.   Hear Adam Kirk explain what advice Mayor John Peyton gave to Brown.

The jobs governor gets another shot to prove his policies are putting people back to work.  Florida's unemployment rate for April comes out later this morning.  We've seen three straight months of declining unemployment. 

An anti-voter fraud bill gets Governor Scott's signature. But it could make it harder for you to vote. The new law increases restrictions of voter registration groups like Acorn.  It also reduces the number of days you can vote early. The Justice Department is being called to review the new law.

The anti-terrorist barriers are NAS JAX did their job.  45-year-old Timothy Migliore forced his way past the guards at the front gates Tuesday night.  When the barriers went up, Migliore smashed into them.  He got out of his truck and tried to carjack someone, but cops arrested him.

Our Top National Story:  The Washington budget battle gives storm forecasts a cloudy outlook.  NOAA and FEMA are pleading with Congress to keep its budget intact, arguing it'll cripple their ability to warn you of impending storms.  Hear Jamie Dupree explain how much more NOAA is slated to get in the new budget. 

The F-35 fighter jet being developed by Lockheed Martin is running into major cost increases and some grumbling in Congress.  Hear Jamie Dupree explain how many billions over budget this could be. 

With gas prices nearly four dollars a gallon, and summer vacations right around the corner, we find a new survey of Americans who say the increased cost will cause serious financial hardships...at least the rest of this year.  The AP poll finds more than 70 percent of people saying rising gas prices will cause *some* hardship for them and their family.

The feds are looking into a possible connection between the Tylenol deaths in the 80's and the Unabomber.  The FBI says it's trying to get DNA samples from several people, including Ted Kaczynski.

Live today as if it's your final day on earth.  A Christian media group says tomorrow is judgement day.  Harold Camping says a giant earthquake will mark the beginning of the end of our days.

The Mississippi River has crested at more than 14 feet above flood stage in Vicksburg, Miss., slightly lower than expected, easing worries about water spilling over a nearby levee and inundating thousands more acres of farmland.

The president of the Japanese utility overseeing the crippled nuclear power plant says he's stepping down. Tokyo Electric Power has reported massive losses related to the plant damaged by the March earthquake and tsunami.

The lawyer for Dominique Strauss-Kahn says the former IMF chief will probably be released from jail later today.  Strauss-Kahn faces charges that he tried to rape a hotel maid.

President Obama sits down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, trying to salvage stalled Middle East peace talks.  But the two men have differing opinions about a Palestinian state.
