The severe weather threat is over with just trace amounts of rain and no severe storms.  Across south Florida there are reports of tornadoes.  For us it'll turn more comfortable during the day with humidity falling and gusty winds.

Today's interview lineup:

At 6:53 hear Jamie Dupree's post-debate analysis from Las Vegas.

At 7:53 hear Fox News political analyst Jeff Birnbaum explain how personal it's getting between Romney and Perry.

At 8:10 hear JEA's managing director and CEO Jim Dickenson explain why the electric rate is expected to stay put for 5 years.

At 8:23 hear Jamie Dupree explain why Herman Cain can expect more sharp criticism of his 999 tax plan.

At 8:53 hear Fox's Mike Majchrowitz explain how the President is trying to win the public debate over his jobs bill.

Our Top National Story is You Decide 2012:  Piling on 999.  Herman Cain's recent surge in the polls drew him some sharp jabs in the Las Vegas debate.  Ron Paul called Cain's plan dangerous.  Cain says his critics are mixing apples and oranges.

The other big theme is Rick Perry and Mitt Romney sparring about several topics including illegal immigration.  At several points they interrupted eachother. We'll have a break for nearly a month before the next debate.

A Washington think tank says its analysis shows Cain's 999 tax plan would raise taxes on 84% of U.S. households.  The Tax Policy Center says low and middle-income families would be hit hardest, with households making between 10 thousand and 20 thousand dollars seeing their taxes increase by nearly 950-percent.

Our Top Local Story:  The alarm bells are ringing even louder at the police union shop in Jacksonville.  The draft reorganization plan outlined by Mayor Brown calls for departments to cut 15%.  FOP President Nelson Cuba says that would cripple public safety.  We offered Sheriff Rutherford the opportunity to comment on the proposal but he did not want to comment.

A welcome break in your power bill.  JEA's base electric rate is expected to stay put for the forseeable future.  At a meeting yesterday we learned fuel rates are staying the same for the next 12 months.  And after four straight years of water and sewer increases, those rates are expected to stay the same for the next five years.

A woman is under arrest for running an unlicensed massage business and for prostitution. An undercover deputy who made an apointment at the woman's Orange Park apartment says she offered to perform a sex act for 20-dollars.

A Florida lawmaker's quest to ban debit card fees may have gotten some ammunition.  Bank of America, which plans to start implementing a five-dollar-a-month fee for using its debit card, reported a third quarter profit of over six billion dollars.

Salaries for state university employees are now posted online.  Governor Scott made the move, saying citizens have a right to know how much public employees are making.  The salaries range from 30-thousand dollars to 1.2-million dollars a year.

JIA will host a training exercise this morning that will test the preparedness of emergency services working at the airport.  The scenario will be a worst-case, what if incident where a plane crashes near the airport and there are mass casualties.  It gets started at 9 am.

The historic 5 Points Theater in Riverside is about to shut its doors for a month-long renovation.  The owner has raised more than 100-thousand dollars to pay for the upgrades.

Four months in jail for the Jacksonville man accused of killing cats by shooting them at point blank range.
18 year-old Mason Lanier just pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty.  The shootings were taped on a cellphone, and a second teen accused of participating in the killings is also charged with animal cruelty.

Former Jags receiver Mike Sims-Walker is returning to Jacksonville to don the teal and black once again.  Sims-Walker was cut from the Rams Monday after a less-than-impressive start to the season.
