9/30: BOA hitting customers with $5 swipe fee 

One more hot day before refreshing air arrives.  You'll feel the humidity fall throughout the day, and tomorrow we're in the upper 70's with a nice breeze.  Overnights will be cool throughout the weekend. 

Hurricane Ophelia is getting stronger as she churns in the Atlantic. The storm is more than 700 miles south of Bermuda, moving north-northwest and is not expected to impact the U.S. Tropical Storm Phillippe is still out there and its future is very uncertain.  The forecast tracks seem to zig-zag around in the next few days.

Breaking news in the war on terror, as U.S. born terror leader Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed in Yemen. 
He has been implicated in the US army base killings in Fort Hood, the Christmas 2009 airline bomb attempt, and a failed bombing in New York's Times Square. al-Awlaki has been on the run since 2007.

Our Top National Story:  Expecting to lose two-billion dollars in revenue thanks to new federal regulations, Bank of America will try to recoup some of that by imposing a fee for using your debit card. Five dollars a month--for just one swipe at the store.  The fee begins in January.

Bowing to the pressure of big banks.  A government watchdog says federal regulators bent to pressure from big banks that were trying to get out from the bailout quickly.  Today's report finds that regulators relaxed the requirements put in only weeks earlier.

Our Top Local Story:  He promised to reform city government, and Mayor Brown says that's exactly what he's doing.  23 mayoral appointees were let go but those positions will eventually be filled.  30 others will probably not be filled, saving taxpayers more than one million dollars.  Brown promises his next focus is reform, which includes pensions for city workers, police and fire.

A bunch of money was swiped from the economic development fund to help save JSO and the library, but that doesn't mean that the JEDC will be completely without money.  Jerry Mallot with the chamber of commerce says further budget cuts will yield funds for economic development.  Mallot says he thinks the mayor plans to announce these further budget reforms in October.

The cost to park at the historic downtown parking facility in St. Augustine is changing.  Instead of paying an hourly rate, starting tomorrow it will be a flat fee of 10 dollars to park all day. 

Continuing coverage of you decide 2012.  An anti-climactic vote today to set January 31st as Florida's primary date.  The Republican Party boss is responding to claims that we're "going rogue".

The Florida House is appealing a court ruling upholding that anti-gerrymandering amendment to the state constitution.  Voters last year approved two amendments, one each dealing with legislative and congressional districts.

10 millions in cuts is what we are now hearing from JSO after the council's decision at Tuesday's budget meeting.  JSO has sent us a press release saying they didn't receive the COPS grant, and are currently talking about the new budget.  Once we hear about the newest reductions, we will let you know.

Funeral services are scheduled for the pilot from Ocala who crashed into that crowd of spectators at an air show in Reno.  Funeral services for Jimmy Leeward are held in Ocala today.  10 other people were killed in the crash.

The woman who threatened to hijack a plane out of JIA last week is now facing federal charges. Authorities say this isn't the first time Haven Taylor has pulled this kind of stunt.  They say she did the same thing in Orlando in 2003 and was hospitalized. 

A former 5th grade teacher at Beauclerc Elementary school will spend 13 months in prison on charges of sexual battery with a minor.  40-year-old Kristina Hartless is accused of having a relationship with a teenage student. 

The Onion tries to be funny, but U.S. Capitol Police are not laughing.  The agency is investigating a report by the satirical newspaper that says that members of Congress had taken a group of schoolchildren hostage in exchange for 12 trillion dollars in cash.
