Back to the 90's

Previous Posts

Turning hot to start our week.  We'll be sunny today with temps in the upper 80's, maybe hitting 90 inland.  Stray showers and thunderstorms tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday.  It looks like we'll have a better chance of showers to end the week.

Today's interview lineup:

At 6:53 hear Jamie Dupree explain how rocky Mitt Romney's lead is in Wisconsin ahead of Tuesday's primary.

At 7:23 hear Andy Dean explain why it's time for Republicans to rally around Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee.

At 8:23 hear Jamie Dupree update the polls in Wisconsin, Maryland and Washington D.C.

Our Top Local Story:  Tempers flare at weekend rallies for Trayvon Martin.  Still no charges have been filed against George Zimmerman as State Attorney Angela Corey's team of prosecutors continue to investigate the shooting in February.  We've learned two forensic voice experts have determined the person screaming in the 911 audio is likely not George Zimmerman.  New audio from a phone call between rescue dispatchers appears to show them cancelling a second ambulance, presumably for Zimmerman.

A nightmare for one East Arlington family.  A one-year-old girl is run over by her grandmother's SUV and dies.  Jacksonville police say the woman didn't realize her granddaughter had followed her outside the house Sunday.  The child died at Shands.  We expect to learn names of the people involved in this apparent accident later this morning.

Closing Palm Sunday service with an apology.  First Baptist Church Pastor Mac Brunson apologized for statements he made about a blogger who criticized his leadership.  The Times Union reports Brunson said he regretted calling Tom Rich a sociopath with an obsessive compulsive problem.  The paper reports Rich sued the church for defamation and also settled a lawsuit against the Sheriff's Office and State Attorney for violating his First Amendment rights.

A shooting investigation leads Jacksonville police to find a foot sticking out of a water-filled ditch.  The body was discovered Saturday night as cops searched a home on Restlawn Drive on the northside.  The homeower says someone fired shots at her home. The body of a man was found in a ditch behind the woman's home.

Forget the Mega Millions.  A 49-year-old Baldwin woman just won half a million dollars in a scratch-off game. The Times-Union reports Kathaleen Murphy and her husband are on a lucky streak...winning a $1,000 prize the week before, and $500 the week before that.

The national average for a gallon of gas could reach $4 this month.  So far, 11 states have an average of $4 a gallon.  Florida's average is $3.93 to kick off Easter week.   Jacksonville's average for unleaded is $3.86.

Our Top National Story is a trio of Tuesday primaries in You Decide 2012.  Wisconsin is the biggest haul tomorrow, and Mitt Romney is leading in the polls.  Romney picked up the endorsement of Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson.  Rick Santorum says he's in the race for the long haul, which means at least the end of this month when his home state of Pennsylvania holds its primary.

Look for Sarah Palin to co-host the Today Show this week.  NBC says Palin will reveal a different side than we've seen before--she'll be on tomorrow morning.  It's clearly a response to former "Today" host Katie Couric filling in on ABC's Good Morning America this week.

At least 32 people are dead in a plane crash in Siberia.  The twin engine turboprop went down in a snowy field shortly after take-off today.  Miraculously, eleven people survived.  Their injuries are serious.  Cause of the crash is unknown.
