It's looking like a great weekend forecast. Temps are in the mid-80's with a comfortable breeze out of the north. We have minimal rain chances today through Sunday.
Today's interview lineup:
At 6:53 hear Jamie Dupree explain how the Obama re-election team is hitting the reset button.
At 8:23 hear Jamie Dupree explain how Attorney General Eric Holder is handling the release of more documents in the Fast and Furious investigation.
Our Top Local Story: Making your daily ride faster will cost you, once toll roads make a comeback. The plan by FDOT has many of you fuming on Facebook, especially since voters eliminated the old tolls and replaced them with a half cent increase in the sales tax. This plan calls for three sections of I-295 to be expanded and the new lane will be a tolled express lane. It's not going to happen until 2016 at the earliest.
A city oversight will cost you millions of dollars. As we first told you last November, the city of Jacksonville reached an agreement with the Justice Department to fix over two-thousand items not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Some of them are contained within City Hall, the Downtown Library and the Baseball Grounds, among other locations. And now we know the price tag for those modifications: $37 million.
In an effort to improve their public image, the Florida State College at Jacksonville is going to be hiring an outside company to review how the college operates. Board Chairman Jim McCallum proposed the idea to hire a company to observe the school's staff and student performance. Recent troubles in the last three months have cast a negative image and McCallum says he wants to turn it around while they still can.
Marco Rubio's rise in politics almost never happened. We're reading through his autobiography that's scheduled to be released Tuesday. Rubio says he was on the verge of dropping out of the 2010 Senate race because of how badly he trailed Charlie Crist. But Rubio says he got angry about the tactics being used to try to force him out. And we know how the story ended.
One city's loss is another's gain. Because Jax Beach cancelled its annual fireworks, the city of St. Augustine is bracing for big crowds on the 4th of July. We're told there will be several street closures and detours. See the complete list here. Parking at the visitors information center is $10 for all day.
A dog is recovering after being slashed ten times, and the Humane Society is putting up a $500 reward for bringing his attacker to justice. The dog was found a week ago in Northwest Jacksonville covered in blood with life-threatening injuries throughout his body. The dog, which staffers have named "Bo," successfully underwent surgery. The Human Society is also starting a fund to help pay for Bo's veterinary care.
Police need your help in finding a group of people who carjacked a truck driver. This happened at a truck stop on U.S. 301 near Baldwin. The kidnappers tied the truck driver and dropped him off in a storage facility in Macclenny with his arms and legs tied and made off with his tractor-trailer. The driver was able to break free, walk to a Walmart and call 911.
Governor Scott says he was forced to cast a provision ballot in 2006 because he was mistakenly taken off the voter rolls. Apparently another Florida man with the same name and date of birth had died that year. Scott used the story to defend his current effort to purge Florida's voter rolls of non-U.S. citizens.
Our Top National Story is You Decide 2012: President Obama's Ohio trip may have been more about hitting the reset button for his campaign. While there were no new economic initiatives, the Obama re-election team churned out positive reviews from Democrats. Romney also campaigned in Ohio Thursday.
We'll hear the President celebrate Gay Pride Month at a White House reception today. Earlier this month Obama stressed that his administration has worked to level the playing field for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people.
Three more accusers take the stand in the trial of Jerry Sandusky. One accuser says the former Penn State assistant football coach referred to himself as the "tickle monster" before embracing him in a shower. Eight accusers have testified against Sandusky. The trial will resume Monday.
