Episcopal community turns to faith

Warmer today but cloudy and a chance of rain in spots.  Temps are in the low 70's.  Breezy and warmer tomorrow as we're back into the 80's.  We're tracking rain and thunderstorm chances on Friday and Saturday.

Today's interview lineup:

At 6:53 hear Jamie Dupree in Ohio on the big wins for Mitt Romney, and what we should look for next.

At 8:23 hear Jamie Dupree explain why Romney is not flashy, but he keeps winning.

At 8:53 hear State Attorney Angela Corey explain why Episcopal HS head Dale Regan was such a respected leader.

Our Top National Story:  Mitt Romney gets the big prize, Ohio, eking out a win over Rick Santorum.  Romney won six states and now has as many delegates as his challengers combined.  Santorum won three states and Newt Gingrich won Georgia so the delegate-rich day ends with no knockout blow.

Sarah Palin seems to be leaving the door open a crack.  CNN asked if she would throw her name in the ring in the unlikely event of a brokered convention.  Palin says she's not closing any doors that may be opened.

President Obama isn't letting the Republicans have the whole campaign spotlight. He's continuing a schedule of weekly visits to politically important states with a trip to North Carolina today.

Our Top Local Story:  A community is rocked to its core in an instant.  Episcopal High School head Dale Regan is murdered by a teacher who, hours earlier, was fired.  Shane Schumerth carried an AK 47 in a guitar case, killed Regan in her office, then committed suicide.  Students described him as being quiet, and there was nothing to indicate he had an interest in guns.  Hundreds of people mourned the loss of Regan at a service last night.  Funeral arrangements are being made.

A judge's ruling on government pensions in Florida could blow a billion dollar hole in the budget.  The judge says Governor Scott and the Legislature violated the state constitution by requiring public employees to contribute three percent of their salaries toward their pension.  Judge Jackie Fulford says a budget crisis is no excuse for violating collective bargaining rights.  The Governor is promising a swift appeal.

A small backyard burn quickly gets out of control, burning a house and forcing evacuations in southern Clay  County.  Everyone is back in their homes this morning, and the wildfire is 50% contained.  It's called the Caribbean Circle Fire off County Road 214.  It's 200 acres.  Watch for smoke in southern Clary County throughout today.

A 14-year JEA employee is on administrative leave for allegedly setting up fraudulent transactions on customers' accounts.  JEA and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are reviewing customer accounts for possible improper transactions.  JEA says it immediately launched an internal probe after other employees discovered the suspicious activity.

He's accused of molesting a six year-old girl.  Cops in Fernandina Beach arrest a 58-year-old man for capital sexual battery.  The man was arrested after a photo clerk at a CVS found nude pictures of a very young girl while developing film.  The man is locked up in the Nassau County Jail on a half-million dollars bail.

A deputy sheriff in Brevard County is killed in the line of duty.  Deputy Barbara Pill was killed as she was trying to make a traffic stop while investigating a motel burglary. Two suspects are under arrest.   Pill leaves behind three children, all of whom work in law enforcement.

We're expecting to get our first look at the new iPad today.  It's the first big unveiling since the death of Steve Jobs.  It sounds like the new iPad has a speedier processor, sharper screen and option for faster wireless broadband access.

Peyton Manning's days as Colt are likely to end today when Indy cuts him.  The big question is where Manning lands in free agency.
