Bye Bye Beryl

Hope you are getting back to normal after Beryl dumped a ton of rain on the area.  We're going to see more heavy rain bands at times today.  We're under a flood watch through this evening.

Our chief Meteorologist Heather Zehr says we can't rule out an isolated severe storm today as bands move from the southwest to northeast.  She says rain totals from Beryl will continue to grow.

Craig Field saw 3.66 inches
JIA saw 3.15 inches
Keystone Heights saw 4.37

The Mathews Bridge is closed throughout the day today.  The FDOT inspector needs to investigate the construction scaffolding to make sure it's safe.

JEA working to get the last remaining customers back online.   Crews have been working through the night getting people back online.  They will return to full day crew strength Tuesday morning:  30+ electric crews, 10+ tree crews, 5+ water crews and 15+ sewer crews restoring service.  You can call 665-6000 to report an outage and if you see a downed power line call 911.

Still not open--with no clear answer of when it'll happen.   The Duval County Courthouse was scheduled to open today but the state fire marshal is not letting that happen just yet.  City Councilman Matt Schellenberg says there was no choice but to postpone the opening, with continued fire safety check failures late last week.  But with court operations already operating on limited capacity, Mayor's Office spokesman David DeCamp says the focus is getting the courthouse running.  The Chief Judge has a number of alternatives to review as delays continue.

Our Top National Story:  Mitt Romney says today is a  big day for him.  Texas voters are likely to give him enough delegates to formally clinch the Republican presidential nomination.  He's only 58 shy of the 1,144 needed to become the nominee.
Romney will be in Las Vegas attending a fundraiser hosted by celebrity real estate mogul Donald Trump.

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will honor the recipients of the Medal of Freedom at a White House ceremony later today.  The Medal of Freedom is the nation's highest civilian honor.  Among this year's recipients are former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, the first woman to hold the nation's top diplomatic post; John Glenn, the third American in space and the first American to orbit the Earth; and legendary musician Bob Dylan.

The man who held police and a SWAT team at bay atop a crane for 12 hours has fallen 150 feet to his death.  The robbery suspect led police on a chase that ended on the campus of Southern Methodist University and he climbed into the cab of a crane to get away from police.  He threatened to shoot if police approached.

NATO says its forces have killed al-Qaida's second-highest ranking leader in Afghanistan in an airstrike.  The U.S.-led coalition says the attack that killed Sakhr al-Taifi and another al-Qaida militant took place Sunday in eastern Kunar province.
NATO says al-Taifi, also known as Musthaq and Nasim, frequently traveled between Afghanistan and Pakistan, carrying out commands from senior al-Qaida leadership.
