We'll have a dry start to the day but afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be around. Temps today are in the low 80's. A taste of fall arrives Tuesday with afternoon temps in the upper 70's. The rest of the week looks dry and pleasant with temps in the low 80's.

Our Top Local Story: An man loses his life at a Jacksonville bar hours before the Bears/Jaguars game he had traveled from Illinois to see. 42-year-old Chris Pettry was stabbed to death during an altercation at Fionn MacCool's at the Landing early Sunday morning. Police arrested 27-year-old Matthew Hinson of Jacksonville on a murder charge. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says it will provide more details on the incident later today.
It was tied 3-3 at half-time but the Jaguars failed to perform in the second half against the Bears, falling 41-3. Blaine Gabbert threw two interceptions for touchdowns and the Jaguars offense failed to move the ball in the second half. The Jaguars have a bye week, and coach Mike Mularkey says they'll use the time to improve on both sides of the ball. Mularkey says the team is going through growing pains.
We're learning that eight hospitals here in Florida received the contaminated steroid that has causes the meningitis outbreak that has sickened over 90 people, seven fatally, in nine states. None of the hospitals are in Jacksonville. The steroid came from a pharmacy in Massachusetts.
A rash of car break-ins over the weekend. More than eight cars were broken into at Amelia Island and Little Talbot Island state parks. The thieves making off with money, purses, wallets, cell phones and prescription medications.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist. 30-year-old Jared Bynum of Jacksonville was riding his bike eastbound on Nocatee Parkway when police say 21-year-old Shannon Brink hit him with her SUV. Bynum was pronounced dead at the scene.
We now know the names of the two people killed in a small plane crash in northwestern Indiana. 48-year-old Vincent Vaccarello and 45-year-old Patsy Crisafi -- both of St. Augustine -- were in the single-engine plane when it crashed about a mile short of the airport in Gary, Indiana. They were identified through dental records.
A murder-suicide in Yulee over the weekend. Neighbors hearing shots fired on Theresa Road Saturday night. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate and they should be updating us later today.
Our Top National Story is You Decide 2012. Mitt Romney is planning to use President Obama's hope slogan against him in a speech on foreign policy today. In prepared remarks, Romney says "hope is not a strategy.'' He's expected to push for the U.S. to take a more assertive role in Syria and to call for tougher sanctions on Iran.
An Obama campaign TV ad is calling Mitt Romney reckless and amateurish on foreign policy questions. And a campaign spokeswoman says Romney has "been an unmitigated disaster on foreign policy every time he sticks his toe in the foreign policy waters."
Thousands of Romney supporters packed the Field of Fame in Apopka over the weekend to hear Mitt Romney speak. Romney hammered the Obama Administration on the high unemployment rate.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wins re-election and a new endorsement of his socialist project. It's his closest race yet after a bitter campaign in which the opposition accused him of unfairly using Venezuela's oil wealth and his near total control of state institutions to his advantage.
California Governor Jerry Brown wants to drive down the price at the pump, where motorists in his state are paying record-breaking prices. He wants winter-blend gasoline to be sold now, instead of later this month. The statewide average price is $4.65. The national average price is unchanged from last week, at $3.84 a gallon. In Jacksonville the average is $3.61.
