We'll be back in the mid-80's today with times of sun and clouds. And as we saw yesterday, scattered rain will be around. Where it rains it'll be heavy. Temps are pushing 90 each day and with a chance of rain and storms it's going to feel pretty sticky.
Today's interview lineup:
At 6:53 hear Jamie Dupree in Ohio, where President Obama and Mitt Romney traded barbs over the economy and appealing for support.
At 7:19 hear Neal Boortz explain why he thinks time is running out for Mitt Romney to become a politican.
At 8:23 hear Jamie Dupree in Ohio, where the path to victory runs through several major markets, much like Florida.
Breaking News in Beauclerc where a man in his 20's is shot dead in a home invasion robbery. It happened after Midnight at Victoria Park Apartments on Sunbeam, just east of San Jose Blvd. Two young kids who were sleeping in a bedroom were not hurt. Police are searching for at least two suspects.
Our Top Local Story: A step toward reviving their image. We're expecting the latest review of Florida State College at Jacksonville to come in this morning. It's a widespread review in to nearly every aspect of the college, from executive leadership to hospitality. According to the Times Union, State Senator Steve Oelrich of Gainesville wants a grand jury investigation into FSCJ.
Duval County Clerk of Courts Jim Fuller is opening up about the instant controversy over $174,000 in bonus money to his staffers. Fuller tells WOKV News the money he used was state money that he saved in his budget, and it never mixes with local money. He says he never meant for this to cause any confusion. He just wanted to reward hard work. Later today we'll hear from the city council on whether money can be taken out of the clerk's budget this year as a result of the bonuses he already distributed.
He won't go in to too many specifics but former Duval County Health Department Director Bob Harmon, who resigned suddenly yesterday, says it was time to go. Harmon tells Channel 4 he plans on moving back in to the private sector now to work on a consulting firm. His resignation came just two days after the Time Union published emails showing the agency was slow or unwilling to release information about the city's tuberculosis outbreak.
It's now been a week since anyone has seen University of Florida student Christian Aguilar. As the search continues, we've learned the man arrested on charges related to the case bought a shovel and duct tape several days before Aguilar went missing. Pedro Bravo is a childhood friend of Aguilar's and is charged with depriving a victim of medical treatment. Police say Bravo and Aguilar were fighting over a girl before Aguilar's disappearance.
Our Top National Story is You Decide 2012. President Obama and Mitt Romney shadow eachother on the campaign trail again. They're both in Virginia today, after spending time in Ohio yesterday.
Obama is pitching a broad economic argument to voters ahead of next week's debate with Mitt Romney, buying TV time in seven battleground states to promote what he calls a new economic patriotism. In a two-minute ad, Obama looks into the camera as he promotes an economic plan he says will create 1 million manufacturing jobs, cut oil imports and hire thousands of new teachers. The ad is set to air in New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada and Colorado.
Which poll do you most believe? As we told you yesterday on Jacksonville's Morning News, a poll of likely Florida voters by Quinnipiac has Mitt Romney trailing by nine points. Rush Limbaugh says the daily Rasmussen poll has the race tied. Rush says the Quinnipiac poll oversampled Democrats by seven percentage points, putting the results in the margin of error.
The NFL's regular officials are expected to work tonight's game between the Ravens and Browns after the league and the referees' union reached a tentative contract agreement this morning. The deal still had to be ratified by the 121 union members, but it should end a labor impasse that began when the officials were locked out in June.
