Good morning! It's Friday, March 1st, 2013. The Riverside Arts Market returns for its 5th year. March arrives with a cold blast of air. WOKV's Chief Meteorologist Accuweather's Heather Zehr reminded me this morning the average high is 71. Today we're going to struggle to hit 60. Overnight temps fall into the 30's. It looks like Sunday morning will be the coldest of the weekend with the wind chill in the 20's.
The Big Three things you need to know:
1.) Deadly house fire. One man is dead in morning fire at a duplex on Jadestone Drive. That's just east of I-295 and south of Atlantic Blvd. JFRD says only one side of the duplex was occupied at the time of this morning's fire. The emotional scene after police arrived led to the arrest of a family member on a charge of breach of peace.
2.) Road rage shooting. No one is hurt when a man rams a car then shoots at it this morning on Youngerman Circle in front of Sam's Club. One person was taken into custody. The woman who was shot at was not injured.
3.) Sequester. The White House says President Obama is still hopeful that something can be worked out with Congress to avert the $85 billion in military and domestic spending cuts set to take effect today. The White House says that's why Obama is waiting until the last moment possible to put the cuts into effect.
