Good morning! Comfortable temps this morning and it looks like a beautiful afternoon with sunny, dry conditions and temps in the upper 80's. It looks like we have a better chance for showers or storms by midweek.
Tropical Storm Humberto was born this morning west of Africa and is expected to become a hurricane. The early track keeps the storm away from the U.S.
Here are the Big Three things you need to know:
1.) Showdown with Syria. President Obama is pulling out all the stops in his push for military action against Syria. Jamie Dupree tells us Obama is doing a series of TV interviews today, then will address the nation Tuesday at 9pm. You will hear live Fox News coverage on WOKV. Herman Cain says the White House has failed in one key area: Stating the mission. The administration released some graphic video of victims of the alleged chemical attack to help make its case for action. Syrian President Bashar Assad tells Charlie Rose he was not behind the alleged chemical attack. Secretary of State John Kerry says Syria's President could resolve the crisis surrounding a chemical weapons attack simply by turning over every single bit of his weapons stock to the international community within a week. But Kerry, holding a news conference in London with British counterpart William Hague on Monday, said he thinks Assad isn't about to do that.
2.) An ugly way to start the season. The Jaguars scored an early safety, then couldn't move past midfield most of the game, falling to the Chiefs. The 28-2 final was the first time in NFL history that a game ended with that score. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert had a rough day, then sustained a cut on his hand that needed 15 stitches. Coach Gus Bradley says the team clearly failed to execute.
3.) A 107-year-old man is shot dead by police in a SWAT standoff. Police in Pine Bluff, Arkansas say Monroe Isadore fired at police as they were investigating reports he had pointed a gun at two people inside the house. SWAT tried several times to get him out but he refused, then shot at police, before he was shot dead. Police are investigating the incident.
