Cheney calls Snowden a traitor
Former Vice President Dick Cheney is backing the government's reliance on data collection from Americans and foreign nationals. Cheney calls Edward Snowden a traitor and possibly a Chinese spy.
Pandemonium at sports bar
A packed outdoor deck behind a popular Miami-area sports bar partially collapsed. People scrambled to get out of the water. 24 people were hospitalized, two with critical injuries.
Real feel 105
We've got another sweltering one today with temps in the mid to upper 90's but the "real feel" exceeding 105.
Hot and uncomfortable
Hottest air of the year is here. It's uncomfortable when you factor in the humidity, temps feeling like 100-105 degrees. We'll be sunny and mostly dry today and Thursday.
Eye catching stats on red light cameras
The city of Jacksonville has cameras at 18 intersections and they were activated in February. So far those cameras have brought in $477,000. That's after the $72,000 per month the city pays the vendor Redflex.
Whistleblower in hiding
A national security lawyer says Edward Snowden could face many years in prison for releasing classified information if he is successfully extradited from Hong Kong. Snowden says HE leaked the information on secret U.S. data gathering efforts.
Why Andrea under performed
Heather Zehr says Tropical Storm Andrea's forward speed kept the number of intense rain bands down. We did have a weak tornado in Fernadina Beach. Naval Station Mayport had some minor wind damage.
Andrea will create problems
The WOKV Storm Center is fully activated as Tropical Storm Andrea brings flooding rain, strong winds, and possibly an isolated tornado. This is the first Tropical Storm of the Atlantic hurricane season and it got a little stronger overnight.
Thursday rain maker
We're tracking a tropical disturbance that will move out of the Gulf to the northeast. It will bring heavy rain Thursday into Friday, perhaps between 2 and 4 inches based on the latest estimate.
More stories of being put through the ringer
We're going to hear today from the leaders of six conservative groups who were mistreated by the tax agency. Several of the groups say their applications for tax-exempt status were delayed while agents asked intrusive questions that the IRS has since acknowledged were inappropriate. The groups testify today before the House Ways and Means Committee.
Wet and stormy
We are tracking storm development from the west. It's the same system that raked across the Plains this weekend. For the most part it's going to feel like a typical summer stretch with heat and steam, then storms in the afternoon. Heavy rain and gusty winds are most likely, but we can't rule out an isolated severe thunderstorm.
A threat to hurricane readiness
Governor Scott says the sequester budget cuts are his biggest concerns for the hurricane season. Scott says the cuts threaten to strain Florida's readiness capability. According to the governor, the cuts mean nearly 1,000 Florida National Guardsmen and technicians will have to take furloughs during the summer.
Feeling more tropical this weekend
It's going to feel more tropical as we move into the weekend. Warm temps and high humidity will stick around through the weekend with some rain at times. It's looking like heavier rain arrives next week.
Turning warmer and more humid
We're slowly warming up and turning more humid but it's still dry and sunny today. Watch for a few showers to develop Thursday and increase some for Friday.
Beach brawl
It is going to take police some time to sort out everyone involved in a big fight in Jacksonville Beach on Memorial Day. Police from Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, and the city of Jacksonville assisted Jax Beach police in shutting down streets to avoid retaliatory attacks.

No paychecks at the IRS
Friday we'll see some of the impacts of the sequester as the IRS, HUD, and some smaller agencies are totally shut down for a furlough day without pay.
Memorial weekend weather extreme
Friday is hot but Saturday and Sunday are only near 80. Overnight lows will dip into the 50's inland, low to mid 60's at the beaches.
One day at a time
"One day at a time" reads the headline in The Oklahoman. The search continues for victims following Monday's tornado in Moore, which has now been confirmed to be an EF-5 with winds more than 200 miles per hour.
