Jacksonville, FL. — The Jacksonville Jaguars gifted Keilani Contreras, 11, her very own custom Jaguars jersey on Thursday.
Members of the Jaguars organization also brought gift bags for Contreras’ teammates.
Action News Jax told you in March when Contreras became the first girl in Arlington Youth Football Association history to score a touchdown.
“I felt really good! Like I felt proud of myself,” said Contreras.
“Because I’ve accomplished so much from last year! And now all of my hard work and dedication is paying off!”
The custom Jaguars jersey carries the No. 8, which Contreras wears on gamedays in honor of her late best friend, DeAurra Nealy.
Nealy died in January of MIS-C, a condition linked to COVID-19 in children.
Contreras’ history-making football story even caught the eye of new Jaguars Head Coach, Urban Meyer.
“What a story! Congratulations on your first touchdown, Keilani!” said Coach Meyer on Twitter. “You’re right, you should always go for your dreams! If fans are allowed at training camp this summer I want you and your teammates to come out and be our special guests.”
