Jacksonville, FL — Detectives are canvassing the area surrounding the Waffle House on County Road 210 near I-95 following an armed robbery early this morning. The Sheriff’s Office reports three armed black men entered the restaurant just after 4:00 a.m. There were no injuries reported.
“I-95 runs right next to it so we do not know if these are transient robbers or someone in the area”, said Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. All three of the suspects were armed with handguns, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“At that point in time there were no customers inside, there were only two employees. They quickly overtook those employees and then began their process of garnering as much cash as they could”, said Mulligan.
The suspects took off on foot behind the restaurant, and Deputies believe a car was parked in that neighborhood. There is video from inside the Waffle House, which SJSO is using to identify the suspects.
The video shows each of the suspects were wearing hoods covering their heads but did not have gloves, so forensic teams were trying to get prints from inside the restaurant.
We are working to get a description of the suspects. Refresh this story for updates throughout the day.
