Breezy but easy Election Day weather ahead of peak impacts from Nicole

Jacksonville, Fl — Election day will be windy but there are plenty of dry hours ahead. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is tracking only isolated showers off the Atlantic.

Highs today will be in the upper 70s in Jacksonville and mid 70s along the coast. Winds will pick up a bit today out of the northeast at 15-20 + mph with gusts as high as 30 mph inland and 35+ along the coast.

Scattered showers increase in coverage Wednesday afternoon/evening as we begin to feel the influence of “Nicole” locally. Winds will be gusting to 40+ mph in some neighborhoods inland by early Thursday and linger into Friday.

Thursday will be wet and windy as Nicole moves inland in Florida.

TROPICS: We are tracking “Nicole” in the Southwestern Atlantic. Nicole is trying to look a bit more organized this morning. Hurricane Hunters are investigating the area throughout the day today. Nicole is forecast to become a hurricane by Wednesday afternoon or evening on approach to the East Coast of Florida near or north of Palm Beach / Jupiter. Local impacts begin to increase Wednesday night and linger through Friday.
