Call to home of Jacksonville teacher came in as ‘robbery/home invasion with injury’

Jacksonville, FL — We obtained the calls for service to James’ home on the day a friend discovered her body and learned police were called out to the home in reference to a “robbery/home invasion with injury.”

On the day she was found, police told us foul play was involved but did not indicate a robbery or home invasion may have occurred.

Neighbors tell us the thought of a home invasion or robbery being the possible motive behind her death is unsettling.

“Even the nicest people that you know, you just don’t know when they’re going to be gone,” said a neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous for her protection.

We’ve called and emailed the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office asking if there’s evidence suggesting a home invasion or robbery took place, who made the call and if there’s a description of a suspect.

JSO responded with the following: “It violates Florida State Statute for us to identify a caller to 911. This continues to be an active homicide investigation, no further information has been made available at this time."

Neighbors tell us they’re considering making changes in the wake of her death.

“I prefer everybody, you know, get cameras and security in the houses because you never know what could happen,” said the neighbor.

Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward. You may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
