Clark Howard: Don’t try to buy COVID-19 vaccines online

WOKV’s Consumer Warrior Clark Howard warns that scammers are getting creative in ripping people off during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Howard says with a rocky start to the vaccine rollout, some people are trying to buy COVID-19 vaccines off the internet.

“And they’re not actually getting one. This is a terrible thing... with people being scammed online by pretenders...who say they have access to a vaccine, and out of people’s desperation to get one, they’re paying hundreds if not more than $1,000 for a phantom shot, don’t do it,” says Howard.

He says the only thing we can all do right now is be patient.

“These shots are, after this very frustrating few weeks, are going to steadily be more available. If you can just be patient for a little longer, you’re gonna get that shot in your arm not once, but twice, and nobody’s going to take any money from you for it,” Howard says.

WOKV reported last week when Howard previously warned about a different coronavirus vaccine scam involving people pretending to be with the Social Security Administration. Howard wants you to know that no one from the SSA is involved in setting up vaccination appointments.
