Jacksonville, FL — This Valentine's Day, WOKV's Consumer Warrior Clark Howard is sharing some of his top tips to save some money.
When it comes to flowers, Howard recommends getting them from your neighborhood grocery store.
"Supermarkets heavily discount roses for Valentine's Day. They won't be the quality of roses you'd get from a traditional professional florist, but they're gonna look good and they'll be much cheaper," says Howard.
Howard says you'll typically be able to get a dozen roses for $15 to $19.
He says you'll want to deliver them yourself too.
"You get to see your sweetheart and your sweetheart delivers you flowers and you save a ton of money," says Howard.
As for a special dinner, Howard recommends avoiding restaurants on the day itself and instead considering going the day after.
"It's no less romantic, it's probably more so, because you get better service and it's more intimate in a restaurant when there's not one million people there and they're rushing you along cause they gotta turn the table," explains Howard.
