Clay County FL — Tuesday night during a Clay County Board of County Commissioners Meeting, Director of Emergency Management John Ward announced the county will be ending first doses of the COVID vaccine after this Friday with second doses ending on Friday, May 7th at the fairgrounds vaccination site on State Road 16 in Green Cove Springs. Ward says the site costs about $10,000 a day to operate Monday through Friday which comes out to about $50,000 a week.
Even though the county is losing one site, they are gaining many more pop-up vaccination sites across the county over the coming weeks. Wednesday, Ward announced the county is partnering with Curative, which is a national testing and vaccine provider, to provide Pfizer vaccines at several pop-up locations across the county beginning this Monday. Walk-ups will be accepted, and the vaccine is eligible for anyone 16 and older, but 16 and 17-year olds will need to have a parent or guardian present. The vaccines will be provided for free and you’ll need to show ID to get one.
