Consumer Warrior Clark Howard: Communication with your landlord is key in keeping your home

Jacksonville FL — Now that the national eviction moratorium is no longer in place, Consumer Warrior Clark Howard says staying in contact with your landlord is the most important thing you can do if you are at risk of losing your place to live. Clark says if your landlord is willing to work with you, to set something up that keeps you in your home, then you need to give it a shot.

“Stay in touch with him or her, and tell them what your situation is, and what you’d like to try to do”. Clark says.

Cark says with millions facing eviction, the process to kick someone out of a place will take a while, so you have more time than you think if you need to find a new place.

If you are in Duval County and need help with rental assistance, the City of Jacksonville recently reopened the application process for rental and utility assistance for residents financially impacted by COVID-19. At the time of the announcement on September 2nd, the city said about $10 million in funds were still available.
