Jacksonville FL — It’s January so that means that text message scams involving the IRS are back according to Consumer Warrior Clark Howard. Clark says like clockwork these types of scams always pop up in January and the messages are from someone pretending to be from the IRS saying that the agency owes you money.
“They’re trying to get your personal information to engage in identity theft or theft of your funds from your bank account”. Clark says.
Clark says if you get a text or email like this then do not click on it.
This year, the IRS says you can start filing your taxes on January 23rd and the filing deadline is April 18th.
